Kinetic Analysis of Isothermal and Non-Isothermal Reduction of Iron Ore Fines in Hydrogen Atmosphere

Direct reduction of iron ore with H2 has become an alternative technology for production that reduces pollutant emissions. The kinetics fines in atmosphere under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions were studied by thermogravimetric analysis. X-ray diffraction scanning electron microscopy used to measure the mineral composition analyse morphology reduced fines, respectively. In experiment, it was found final time shorter, higher temperature, metallic particles formed a dense matrix structure. It is likely initial stages process result combination gaseous diffusion interfacial chemical reaction mechanisms, later solid rate control mechanism. heating had significant effect on rate. results show proceeded through three stages: mixing model, two-dimensional diffusion, three-dimensional diffusion.
